Oxford Women Compete in Fours Head

On Saturday 30th November, OUWBC sent three coxed fours to compete at the Fuller’s Head of the River Fours Race.

For some members of the squad, this was a first taste of racing over the Tideway course; for others, the cold weather, lengthy marshalling times and conditions that changed around every bend were all rather more familiar territory. The race gave the crews the opportunity to compete not only against each other but also against a number of clubs from across the country, as well as being the first of the season of racing seeing both Oxford and Cambridge competing on the same course. This racing experience on the Tideway is set to prove extremely beneficial for the Trial VIIIs fixture on the 19th December, when the squad will return to the Tideway to compete against each other in matched crews. This fixture is being held from Putney to Mortlake for the first time in anticipation of the Women’s Boat Race moving to the Tideway in 2015. The two Intermediate 1 fours placed 2nd and 5th in a category of 12, the Intermediate 2 four placed 5th in a category of 50.
