Henley Royal Regatta 2015
Success at Henley Women’s Regatta allowed the Elite 8+ to pre-qualify for the Remenham Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta, as part of a formidable draw featuring three national teams as well as two American collegiate crews.
Friday’s racing saw a face-off against the German national Under 23 women’s eight, racing as club Ruderverein Münster. A confident performance saw the Oxford crew dominate the race from start to finish, crossing the finish line first with an official ‘Easily’ verdict. The whole crew was extremely excited to be able to line up against the GB women’s eight, a Leander/Imperial composite, in the Saturday semi-final. Despite a determined effort, however, we didn’t manage to catch the GB crew, and that race was to be the last of the season for the Elite 8+.
The regatta was an amazing experience for all of us, and a great conclusion to a fantastic year for the team. We would like to thank our sponsors Newton IM for making possible everything we have achieved this season, and would also like to give a special mention to the incredible HRR media coverage and live stream, which meant all our supporters could enjoy the racing, wherever they were in the world!
